In QuickMap, locate Interstate 80 around Truckee and Donner Summit and select the camera and restriction layers you need. For the text report, enter 80 in Caltrans Highway Conditions. Read each notice’s location limits rather than assuming it applies to the entire highway. Caltrans also lists 1-800-427-7623 for current highway information.

Read the location label carefully; a town street on Donner Pass Road does not establish conditions on Interstate 80 at the summit. If a stream is unavailable, use the official camera links and road reports instead.

How to Check Donner Pass Before Driving
- Read the I-80 route report first. Confirm whether a closure, traffic hold or chain restriction affects the part of the highway you plan to use.
- Compare correctly located cameras. Start with a named interstate camera rather than treating a clear Truckee street as a summit report.
- Check image timestamps and weather alerts. A frozen stream is not a current road report.
- Recheck shortly before departure. Follow current official instructions and posted restrictions. Do not browse cameras while driving.

Do all cameras on this page show Interstate 80?
No. The Donner Summit player near the top shows Interstate 80, and the six Caltrans links lead to interstate camera views. The four embedded third-party streams farther down show local Truckee-area locations. Read each location label before comparing conditions.
Are Donner Pass Road and Interstate 80 the same camera location?
Do not treat the names as interchangeable. Read the road and location label on each camera. The local Donner Pass Road streams here are separated from the official interstate players.
Can a webcam tell me whether chains are required?
No. Snow in an image is not an official chain requirement, and bare pavement in one location does not cancel a restriction elsewhere. Read the current Caltrans notice and follow posted controls.
Why is a camera black, frozen or not loading?
Try another named camera and the official route report. Caltrans’s individual players may require JavaScript and a compatible browser. A third-party feed may be unavailable because of equipment, connectivity or operator changes. This directory does not guarantee every stream’s uptime.
Is I-80 over Donner Summit open right now?
