Thanksgiving in Lake Tahoe 2026: Dinner, Events and Weekend Plans

Updated October 8, 2026.

Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, 2026. Start your Lake Tahoe weekend with a dinner reservation and a place to stay near it. Skiing is an optional addition once the resort reports open terrain. You can still have a worthwhile holiday weekend with a lake view, a meal and an evening event.

Thanksgiving Dinner: A 2026 Cruise Option

Visit Lake Tahoe lists the M.S. Dixie II Thanksgiving dinner cruise for November 26, from 4 to 7 p.m., departing Zephyr Cove Resort. Advertised prices are $175 for adults and $85 for children. Check the operator’s current cruise page and booking details for child age brackets, the complete menu, fees and cancellation terms before paying.

This is a boat departure, so build in time for parking and check-in. If you choose the cruise, keep the afternoon close to Zephyr Cove rather than fitting in a distant North Shore outing first. Confirm the operator’s weather and boarding arrangements with your reservation.

Restaurant Dinner or a Meal at Your Rental?

For a restaurant meal, use Visit Lake Tahoe’s Thanksgiving dining directory to find venues to contact. It includes Chart House, Friday’s Station and other South Shore restaurants. That general directory is not confirmation of a 2026 holiday menu or price. Ask the restaurant about November 26 service before booking.

Find out whether the meal is a fixed menu or the regular menu, what children pay, and whether tax, gratuity or a deposit is extra. If your group needs an allergy accommodation, discuss it before reserving. For a rental-house dinner, check the kitchen equipment and pickup deadline before ordering a prepared meal.

What’s Listed for Thanksgiving Weekend?

November 25, 27 and 28: the Tahoe Blue Event Center schedule lists Knight Monsters home games against the Idaho Steelheads. Follow the individual game link for its start time and tickets.

Friday, November 27: the Heavenly Holidays listing includes the village holiday kickoff. Confirm the final kickoff time before setting dinner or transport plans.

Visiting the weekend before Thanksgiving? Valhalla’s Holiday Faire is November 20 to 22. It is not on Thanksgiving weekend. Keep the two weekends separate when booking lodging.

Can You Ski Over Thanksgiving?

Check the resort’s actual operating report for your day. An announced opening date does not tell you which beginner slopes, lifts or lessons are available. Choose a mountain only after checking the terrain your group needs. Our November guide covers the current opening outlook and snow expectations.

A Three-Day Thanksgiving Plan

Thursday: have a slow morning near your lodging, take a short shoreline walk if conditions suit, then leave the afternoon clear for your dinner booking. Pack warm layers even if the afternoon looks sunny.

Friday: choose one daytime outing on your shore. If you are staying near Stateline, pair it with the village holiday kickoff or hockey. Avoid making both evening events compulsory when their times may overlap.

Saturday: take a ski day only if suitable terrain is open. Otherwise choose a town walk, a restaurant lunch and an indoor activity. Check the route home before extending the evening.

Where to Stay and What to Check Before Driving

A Stateline or Heavenly Village base is practical if hockey and village events are your main plans. If the cruise is the centerpiece, compare its departure location with your hotel before choosing. Use our lodging-area guide to avoid building every day around a drive across the basin.

Check official road and weather sources before departure and again before the return drive. Keep an indoor backup for a storm day, and compare the full cost of lodging, parking, dinner and event tickets in our trip cost calculator.

For the rest of the month, see November events. If your visit extends into December, use the December calendar.
