SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A two-vehicle accident in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday led to one person being hospitalized and significant traffic delays lasting about an hour.
The collision occurred at 12:07 p.m. at the intersection of Takela and Lake Tahoe Boulevard. South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue arrived to find that a woman needed to be extracted from her Toyota Camry. She was taken to Barton Hospital with injuries described as minor to moderate, according to Sgt. Justin Brock from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.
Preliminary details suggest that the Camry was traveling west on Lake Tahoe Boulevard when it struck the side of a truck stopped in the left turn lane. The impact caused the Camry to overturn and land in the intersection. The driver was the sole occupant of the Camry.
The two passengers in the truck received treatment for minor injuries at the scene. Traffic was rerouted onto side streets while the accident was cleared, creating a traffic backup between Fairway and Fremont avenues. Both vehicles have been towed away.
