New Wildfire in Tahoe National Forest: Bear Fire Grows to 1,183 Acres

The Bear Fire in Sierra County rapidly expanded on Monday after igniting around 2 p.m. By 7 p.m., it had burned through 1,183 acres north of Truckee. Mandatory evacuations have been issued, and firefighting efforts are underway both from the air and on the ground. The blaze is located in the Tahoe National Forest near Bear Valley Road, south of Loyalton. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
